Lot Description:A late 19thc/early 20thC finely carved ivory netsuke of a hare
with amber toned buffalo horn eyes, finely modelled with his long ears to his arched back, head held low as if feeding, the himotoshi hidden to the base, old soft patina of age evident. Length 37. -
Notes:This example connects well to the book 'The Hare with Amber Eyes: A Family's Century of Art and Loss' 2010 by Edmund de Waal, immortalising this image.
