Lot Description:An extremely fine Maori pre-European black basalt toki (adze)
Duff Type 1 Variety A, tanged quadrangular form, hammer dressed tang, on overall unusual longitudinal strongly concaved back. Length 217, maximum width 53. Reg. Y13263. -
Notes:This good example demonstrates strong concave form generally associated with Polynesia examples, rare to see in N.Z. examples.
