Lot Description:A pair of Indian Padouk 'Grecian' chairs, Bombay, circa 1830

Notes:A superb quality and rare pair of Grecian chairs, the backs with fine pierced carving of anthemions & acanthus leaf, with foliate caved seat and side rails, carved and reeded front legs and swept reeded rear legs. Original brass trail casters. Mint condition. The form an Indian interpretation, for the western market, of a design published in Rudolph Ackermann's Repository of the Arts, London 1827.
