a hurried note 'to send you a stamp with every good wish for the season & next'; she will learn his news from his diary and letters to his parents, 'so I won't tell you any now.....', concluding with news of conditions, 'Rotton weather here. But we are comfortable in a tent with sleeping bags'. In pencil on B.A.E. paper -
Notes:A letter from the early exploratory sledging of the Terra Nova shore parties. Priestley was a veteran of the Nimrod Expedition and, three days previously had revisited Shackleton's hut at Cape Royds, finding it eerily unchanged.
