Lot Description:BRITISH ANTARCTIC EXPEDITION, 1910-1913: 1911 (Feb.9) envelope with 'BRITISH ANTARCTIC EXPEDITION TERRA NOVA R.Y.S.'
printed crest on the reverse; addressed to Wellington by the Assistant Paymaster and Meteorologist Lt. Francis Drake; bearing a Victoria Land 1d tied by the 'BRIT. ANTARCTIC EXPD' datestamp and backstamped at LYTTLETON (31 MR) on arrival. Accompanied by the original enclosure which explains that the 'memento (envelope bearing a postage stamp of Victoria Land)....is posted by Captain Robert Scott' and bears another example of the postmark.
