then surface to New Zealand, airmail & surface fee paid; Plus 31 Dec.1937 Auckland - Wellington, flown by J.W. Burgess and carried by Imperial Airways Ô'Centaurus', following a trial flight from Sydney - Auckland, franked 3d. The New Zealand government were attempting to introduce airmail services in the Pacific, with the agreement to establish a service expiring on 31 December 1937. (2)
