Lot Description:Boer War Mafeking Siege Two Shilling Banknote
No. B9608,'Issued By Colonel R.S.S. Baden-Powell Commanding The Rhodesian Forces', With Facsimile Signature Of Capt. H. Greener Chief Paymaster. The Siege Of Mafeking Took Place Between 1899-1900 During The Second Boer War And Led To A Famous Victory For The British. Col. Baden-Powel Commanded A Small Force Of Locally Gathered Troops To Defend The Key Border Town Of Mafeking. Currency Was In Short Supply So Temporary Banknotes Were Issued. -
