Lot Description:A heart shaped Kerosang brooch
One part of a 19th century Kerosang set of brooches created by Straits-born Chinese silversmiths. Known together as 'ibu' and 'anak' (mother and child), the owner was told that these items came from a Malay palace in Eastern Malaysia. Due to the intricate nature of the back of the ibu brooch these may have been made for a young princess. The roughly cut rubies are mounted in silver gilt box settings surrounded by filigree detailing. Three large paste stones are claw set. Decorated with a bird at the tip and the two outer most points. With two circular brooches made to match.
