  A pair of Satsuma earthenware vases
  of tapering square section, decorated in gilt highlighted with restrained enamels on a matt black ground with views of Mt Fuji and panels of wisteria, birds perched on flowering boughs, and with butterflies to the shoulder. Marked under the foot Satsuma, Hodada and with Shimazu mon, Meiji period, c.1900. Height including wooden stands 290.
