  MEYRICK, Samuel Rush and Charles Hamilton SMITH. The Costume of the Original Inhabitants of the British Islands, From the Earliest Periods to the Sixth century; to which is added, that of the Gothic Nations of the Western Coasts of the Baltic, the Ancestors of the Anglo - Saxons and Anglo - Danes. London, Printed by Howlett and Brimmer for T.M'Lean, 1821. Aquatint additional title page and 24 costume plates, all finely hand-coloured, (6),59,(1)pp., folio (37x26mm), contemporary (publisher's?) 1/2 red cloth and marbled boards with original green paper title label on front board. Some light spotting to endpapers. Sometime expertly rebacked to match. Boards and tips with some light rubbing. The heavy Whatman paper has watermark dates from 1815 to 1821. First published 1815 (Abbey 'Life' 427), this is the second edition.
