London, Longman, 1848.32 chromolithographed illuminated pages, 4pp. text, 175 x 125mm., moulded black papier-mache binding, one corner tip professionally restored, professionally re-backed in black morocco with gilt title, original marbled endpapers retained. A nice copy.Each pair of facing pages is alternately in rich, hot colours, and in cold soft colours, including 'grisaille' pages in black, grey and gold, and striking combinations of pink, blue and silver.
