Lot Description:A grey jade weight, Ming Dynasty, 16th/17th century
in the form of a recumbent Buddhist lion with a ruyi fungus in his mouth, carved in the round, his head turned toward the tri-fibula tail, the veined stone with darker inclusions
4.2cm high, 6.1cm wide -
Provenance:Collection of jim Forbes, Boston, USA, whose family had been involved with the china trade . Most of the collection is in the Peabody Museum, Massachusetts, USA
