  A 18th Century Qing Dynasty Chinese Carved Tortoiseshell Double Box and Cover, 清代过枝梅花蝴蝶图玳瑁双圆盒
  modelled with a drop in lid, profusely carved with butterflies amid foliage, l 13.1cm / 5 1/4 inches ,盒长13.50cm，品相完美，包漿厚潤，表面光亮。盒盖面镂雕、透雕和高浮雕过枝梅花蝴蝶图，其上所雕九只蝴蝶勻可移动。盒盖外壁用阴线雕饰回纹，盒壁浅浮雕缠枝梅纹与盖面相呼应。此盒雕刻工艺高超，打磨圆润。制作相当精美，盒盖盖上后，与盒壁天衣无缝。而此器所雕图案纹饰，均为乾隆时期所常用的图饰，亦符合其风格。清代玳瑁盒常见有圆盒、棱式盒、攒盒、椭圆盒、长方折角盒等，双圆盒则极之少见。再加上民国以前的玳瑁制品已是相当罕见，由此可见，这件乾隆双圆玳瑁盒，实属珍稀之物。Provenance SKINNER AUCTIONER, Massachusetts, MA.
