Lot Description:A rare version of a Baxter print
‘Wesleyan Mission Station at Waingaroa New Zealand [1836?]. Natives assembling to worship’, Published London by the Wesleyan Missionary Society, 1846. Entitled and inscribed ‘Baxter’s Patent Oil Printing, 11 Northampton Square’ , a view of the church and the first mission station of James and Mary Ann Wallis on the Waingaro (Raglan) Harbour, is shown with Maori and Pakeha walking or arriving by canoe. 70 x 130. -
