    P - UNIQUE 9d "COMMONWEALTH" ESSAY OF 1903:
    9d VICTORIA beneath COMMONWEALTH arch design engraved die proof in black on wove paper (40 x 49 mm) backed on card. The only recorded example and part of the Postmaster-General's first attempts to create a standardized Commonwealth stamp design. This design was only issued in New South Wales and Queensland with plans to extend the same design to other denominations and the other States being shelved following criticism of the design.
