Crossing St Gluvias 1995

Notes:The Artist's Statement on the work: St. Gluvias is the dedication of the local church in Penryn in Cornwall (where I live), and sits on the edge of the Penryn River. The large chunk of wood (fragment of an old vessel which had been broken up) was found while walking along 'St Gluvias beach' - hence ""Crossing St Gluvias"". Also, the structure of the painting makes oblique reference to the celtic 'Cross' - so it's a piece about a particular place, which also perhaps, speaks about weathering / aging and the transitory nature of everything. The piece was sold in 2004 for about £1400 GBP, by the Campden Gallery, in Gloucestershire
