  the gilt brass hilt with Victorian cypher and folding guard, the grip with sharkskin and wire binding; the etched, proof marked and fullered blade by Rankin & Co, Calcutta, engraved to the back edge ‘To Quarter Master James Macpherson form E.H. Macpherson and Dick Cunningham...1859’; in steel scabbard with black finish. Blade length 825.
