Lot Description:Indonesian Batak Bullet Holders
Two superb 'bullet holders' of the Batak, Central Sumatra. These elongated containers with slightly flexible, 'forked tongues' were used to store self-cast lead bullets for the early muzzleloader guns of the Batak. Each bearing a face on the wide, upper front. The larger holder has a wooden lid, also carved with typical Batak relief. This 'bullet holder' still has one lead bullet inside. With good patina. Indonesia.
