An early, partial stone fishing-lure shank of a type used for trolling species such as kahawai. Made from New Zealand stone. Number '93' inscribed on both sides of top of shaft. Inscription in black ink of '47639' thought to relate to the Edward Armytage collection. Kenneth Athol Webster acquired a large portion of the Armytage collection following Armytage's death, so this may also be ex-Webster/Miet, especially as it was sold with other taonga from Miet's collection.
