    A rare Japanese 17thC katana sword
    with a two body cutting test, the sword has been shortened and the signature lost. The sword has an attribution to ‘Shimosaka’ from the Japanese Sword Preservation Society (MBTHK), the MBTHK papers also refer to the two body cutting test. ‘Shimosaka’ were a respected group of swordsmiths which also included Yasutsugu who later became a personal favourite of the first Tokugawa shogun. The sword is in full polish with a high quality Shirasaya and old WWII mounts including silver family mon.
