  FABERGÉ, A Russian Officer's WWI Silver Souvenir Cigarette Case
  Moscow mark of K. Fabergé (Cyrillic) incorporating Imperial warrant, standard 84 zolotnik kokoshnik for Moscow 1908-1917. Rectangular outline (114 x 82 x 6.5mm) with rounded corners. The sprung lid, released by an oval cabochon amethyst set thumb-piece, is decorated with a repoussé full length image of a Russian soldier in a trench, and is also inscribed with a sentiment in cyrillic, translated to read 'Dear L.G. Alexandrov from fellow officers of 2nd Battalion PZP 1916'. The gilded interior, engraved with manuscript signatures of 18 fellow officers, fitted with two elastic cigarette retainers. A rare and interesting piece.
