Notes:Peter Pan was a colt by the English horse Pantheon, from the mare Alwina. He was bred at Baroona estate near Singleton in NSW by owner Mr R.R. Dangar and trained by veteran Frank McGrath. Peter Pan's breakthrough came as a three year old. He won the Rosehill Hill Stakes and then the A.J.C. Derby against decent opposition including 1929 Melbourne Cup winner Nightmarch. However the colt finished a disappointing fourth in the Caulfield Cup and his rider was replaced by Billy Duncan, an exceptional jockey. This a change in form and Peter Pan won his next race, the Melbourne Stakes
