Lot Description:A 19thC ornately carved ivory card case
serpentine rectangular form, the front with all-over deeply carved decoration with central cartouche including multiple figures in a veranda setting framed by detailed florals upon a geometric carved repeating ground, the reverse finely carved with figures within veranda settings including buildings, trees, etc., carved border decoration. 110 x 70. Provenance: Ex. the collection of Edmund Dewdney, born Dawkins 1788, died 1847, was a naval Chaplain in Florence, further details available by descent through our vendor"s family, a note is included with this lot. Ex. an old private collection, Arney Road, Remuera. -
