Lot Description:A fine brass, abalone shell and mother-of-pearl inlaid rosewood jewel, writing, and sewing casket, mid 19th century
with a fitted tooled leather mirror to interior of the lid, above a papered partitioned tray for sewing implements, the double doors opening to mother of pearl handled drawers, the lower drawer with a magenta velvet writing slope and ink pots, raised on flat disc feet, with key
35cm high, 33cm wide, 21cm deep -
Notes:Reputedly purchased by the former's owner's father at the first London Exhibition in 1851.
