  "Professor Bernard Smith was the inaugural professor of the Power Bequest Department of Fine Arts at Sydney University. I enrolled in its 2nd year and as an honours student was lucky to be in his tutorial. I took this photograph of him at Tim Burstal's wake in Melbourne. He had a copy of this photograph of him in a prominent position in his living room. We established a friendship and when he was 92 years of age, at his request I did a series of photographs of him, posing as various sculptures of antiquity, in the nude" Joyce Evans
