  GEORGE THWAITES & SON of Melbourne, stunning Colonial sideboard, circa 1855
  made from selected choice cuts of fiddleback blackwood, veneered onto Australian cedar. Note, this design was taken from “Blackie’s Cabinet Makers Assistant” [1853].
  140cm high, 210cm wide, 70cm deep
• Notes:
  Originally commissioned by the highly esteemed JOHN MATHESON (1824-1882) of the Bank of Victoria. Upon Matheson’s passing the piece was then acquired by JOHN JAMIESON (accountant at the Bank of Victoria). The piece was then noted in the 1888 sale of Jamieson’s possessions “Grand dining room furniture in choice blackwood, including sideboard 6 feet”.
