    A Beautiful Old Japanese Jizaikagi Hearth Hook, Together with a Fine Old Lacquerware Pumpkin Shaped Box from Burma
    and an Old Circular Ceramic Cosmetic Box with Fine Glaze and Designs from China. The Jizaikagi or Hearth Hook was part of every traditional Japanese home, they come in different shapes & sizes depending on the home where they were used. The Jizaikagi was hung over a fire to hold a steel kettle or pot for making tea or cooking, it could be raised or lowered as needed. This beautiful form of Jizaikagi is called Daikoku, one of the Seven Gods of Happiness because its hat shape resembles the top of the hook.

  • Notes:
    Carved from a single piece of hardwood except for the wood bolt that pieces the top for suspension. The wood has a beautiful patina & colour from decades of use.
