Lot Description:WWI BRONZE MEMORIAL PLAQUE: inscribed ‘He Died for Freedom and Honour’, in the name of ‘LEO ALPHONSUS KENNEDY
and issued to his next of kin; pierced at top, blank on reverse, 120cm diameter, weight 14.7gr. -
Notes:Leo Alphonsus Kennedy born in 1895 in Hamilton (Vic) enlisted on 24th May 1915, and was assigned as a trooper serving with the 1st Royal Australian Naval Bridging Trail, where he saw service in Gallipoli. In May 1917 he transferred to the12th Light Horse Regiment, and was killed in action at El Sharia, Palestine on 7th November 1917. After the war, he was interred at Beersheba War Cemetery.
