Lot Description:A teadust glazed bottle vase, Official porcelain factory mark, Guangxu period
47.2cm high -
Provenance:Prof. Jocelyn and Mr Moon Lin Chey (1938-2001), Sydney

Notes:The mark 'Gongyi Chuanxi Suo Zhi' is loosely translated as 'Made by the Research Institute of Porcelain'. The Institute was established in the city of Zibo in Shandong province in 1905 during the Hundred Days' Reform during the Guangxu period, as official porcelain kilns. It was renamed as 'Porcelain Factory' in 1914, and discontinued in 1924 due to years of insolvency. There is a teadust yellow-glazed vase in the collection of the Zibo Ceramics Museum with the same mark, albeit ungilded, see related page under 'Collection' of the Museum's website. Kilns in Shandong are well known for revitalising especially the teadust glaze during the Guanxu period.
