Notes:White bronze is a copper alloy with varying amounts of copper, tin, and zinc. Its texture is crisp, making a pleasantly clean sound when being knocked, hence it was also used to make music instruments. Compare with vessels of similar shapes and material, see Christie's New York, 25 Mar 2022, lot 758 and 759, also one previously in the collection of Roger Keverne, see Bonhams, London, 11 May 2021, lot 66.
