Notes:According to the Maningrida Arts & Culture documentation attached verso, 'The spiritual significance of gumang magpie geese is intricately connected with the waterholes depicted in this painting. This is reaffirmed in a funeral ceremony in which two men dance toward each other and past each other in the manner of magpie geese with their bodies painted in magpie goose designs. The ceremony culminates with a sand sculpture which is iconic of the magpie goose and sites associated with it.'
