  POSTCARDS. Two early Australian political examples
  I.) Reid and Deakin on the football field. This card refers to the transfer of office from Reid to Deakin in 1904. Reid did not have a majority, so when Labor and the Protectionists patched up their differences, they voted him out. Artwork by George Austine Taylor (1872-1928). II.)
