Lot Description:A VAN DIEMEN’S LAND TRAVEL PASS ISSUED TO A TICKET-OF-LEAVE HOLDER, November 1844
A travel pass issued to JAMES SHAW (described verso as having arrived on the convict ship “Asia 5” to serve his sentence of 7 years transportation) to permit him to travel from MORVEN to CAMPBELLTOWN where it has been counter-signed by the receiving constable. Framed, with glazing front and rear. -
Notes:The town of Morven (44kms from Campbelltown), had been renamed Evandale in 1836. Shaw, a labourer, was originally from Yorkshire.
