  A Mughal miniature painting, Northern India, late 19th century
  Courtesan with Calligraphy panel verso. the standing figure with finely painted details to the features and dress, possibly a portrait of a favourite courtesan though there is no name inscribed on the painting or margins. Verso: the text is in Arabic and written in delicate sulus script using white paint on a deep blue ground, the text at the top is a saying by the Prophet Muhammad, followed by praise for the Prophet and his family, the name of the calligrapher is signed but illegible
