Lot Description:A Collection of Epaulettes belonging to Lt. S R Mallarkey including rank from Lieutenant to Major, including shoulder patches from AIF Medical Corps
1914 to 1945. Includes shoulder patches and epaulettes sourced from variety of uniforms woolen dress day uniform, captain rank fine cotton drill KD for desert, Heavier Cotton drill rank of Captain and Great Coat Epaulette rank Lt. Embroidered Major Epaulettes Crown in cotton drill WWII. The double blue chevron displays two years of War service. Patches are consistent with the War Service record of Lt. Stephen Graham Mallarky. -
Notes:Lt. Stephen Raymond Mallarky - Lieutenant, 15th Field Coy., Engineers, A.I.F., Egypt and France. Enlisting in July, 1915, and sailing 16th January, 1916, in command 4th and 1st Coy. Reinforcements, joined unit on formation at Tel-el-Kebir in April and was in charge of Engineers' baggage, camels and staff in the Desert March to Ferry Post. Installed and ran pumping station from Sweet Water Canal and supervised construction of light railways, roads and defences. As section officer took part in Battle of Fromelles 19th July and at Fleurbaix. As a graduate of civil enginnering Sydney Uni and employee of Public Works de personally developed successfully the design and construction of reinforced concrete dugouts.
