Lot Description:19th Century Japy Freres Mantle Clock Garniture
three pieces, stamped Japy Freres to rear movement, G.F #987, retailed by Hardy Brothers, the gilt brass rectangular case in the Japonisme style with temple style pediment above dragon and turbulent wave ormolu adornment, the circular gilt Roman numeral dial set within a shaped reserve depicting hand painted blossoms, birds and landscape scene, flanking a seated female figure in traditional dress, the case sides similarly decorated with full length portraits, set above a stepped rectangular base with bracket feet and stylised cloud gallery, the garnitures in the form of compressed urns with matching covers, set with twin shaped handles flanking a body decorated with further full length portraits of figures in traditional dress, the verso decorated with shaped reserves depicting landscape scenes within stipple enamel foliate themes, raised on rectangular pierced gallery pedestals, the whole set above shaped gilt timber and plaster stands, clock height 45cm, garniture height 32.5cm (not including stands), with key and pendulum -
