    Acquired from Pro Hart’s first solo exhibition in Adelaide by Hugh Morgan; Subsequently purchased from Kozminsky Galleries, Melbourne, August 1970 by Dr. James Foster; Thence by descent
  • Notes:
    Accompanied by a hand-written note detailing the provenance and an explanation of the scene depicted. This work is from Pro Hart’s first solo exhibition which was held at the Bonython Gallery, Adelaide and focused on historical events in the BROKEN HILL area. The painting refers to a gruesome series of events that unfolded when a member of the local Aboriginal tribe killed a sheep and in retaliation the miners massacred 14 members of the tribe.
