  F.A.Chartres Esq - Typewriter History
  Illuminated Address presented to F.A.Chartres in March 1928 prior to his trip to America and the United Kingdom. Signed by staff of Chartres Limited & Staff of Zercho-Chartres Business College, includes photographs of premises and showrooms, suede boards, worn & spine damaged. Frederick Aylwin Chartres (1870-1854) was founder & chairman of Chartres Ltd, he ran the company along with his brothers including Francis Allen Chartres (1890-1936). Early in the twentieth century Chartres dominated the Australian typewriter trade after taking over Zercho's Business Colleges in 1909 and then acquired the Australian franchise for Remington.
