  NELLIE MELBA as JULIET in a ROYAL PERFORMANCE, LONDON 1893 - A souvenir programme
  for the State Performance of Romeo & Juliet given at The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden in honour of the marriage of The Duke of York & Princess Mary of Teck (later King George V & Queen Mary) on July 4th, 1893. The beautiful silk programme features portraits of the royal couple, Queen Victoria, the Prince & Princess of Wales and Princess Mary’s parents. The performance of Gounod’s opera “Romeo et Juliette” featured Nellie Melba as Juliette and Jean de Reske as Romeo in a reprise of their triumphant performances at Covent Garden in 1889. Superb condition and overall 54 x 37cm.
