  • Notes:
    Charlie Tjapangati was born in approximately 1949 at the site of Tjulurrunya which is west of the current day community of Kiwirrkurra in Western Australia. Charlie commenced painting for Papunya Tula Artists in 1978 and in 1999 he contributed to the Kintore Men's painting as part of the Western Desert dialysis appeal. In the following year he was chosen to complete a ground painting for the Sydney Olympics. Tingari refers to the dreaming and its laws for the Pintupi language group of the central Western Desert. The Tingari is the creation era when dreamtime ancestors moved across the lands, creating the features of the landscape and all aspects of the natural world.
