    A Japanese Kyoto Tea Bowl, Chawan, Kiyomizu Rokubei IV,1848-1920 Artist's Stamp Impressed to Foot, Kyoto, Meiji Period
    Thinly thrown stoneware rounded tea bowl with a freely turned foot characteristic of Rokubei IV's tea bowls. A thinly applied white glaze veil over the fawn clay & pink flushing.
    H 7.5 cm Dia 11 cm
  • Provenance:
    Private collection.
  • Notes:
    Rokubei V had previously assumed significant responsibilities for the workshop during a decade long period of ill-health suffered by Rokubei IV. Thus there may be some doubt as to the specific authorship of this chawan. Control of the Kiyomizu workshop was transferred to Rokubei V in 1913.
