  WINSTON CHURCHILL - AS WRITER: First edition “London to Ladysmith via Pretoria”
  published by Longmans, Green & Co (1900), the first of two books based on his newspaper despatches sent from the front line during the Boer War; 498pp hardbound with 32pp catalogue at rear for other Longman’s titles. Bound in fawn cloth with distinctive pictorial front cover, the spine stamped in gilt, the original black end papers intact as are all the maps and plans; corner bumps and minor wear to top and base of spine, otherwise very good condition with the binding intact.
