  • Description:
The August Interiors auction will kick off at midday with a large collection of boxed Fun Ho toy cars and classic British Hornby, Bassett-Lowke and Pullman model trains. The 6pm sale starts with an interesting handbag collection of rare animal skin bags including leopard, armadillo, crocodile, snake and lizard, as well as some fine art deco beaded bags. On an important art historical note we have a portrait miniature from the master of the genre Henry Bone and a portrait of Dr. John Snipe, (d.1804) Physician to the Royal Navy Mediterranean Fleet and medical advisor to Lord Nelson. He was instrumental in maintaining the health of the seamen and inspectorate of hospitals in the Mediterranean theatre and was highly regarded by Nelson. The sale also features an African rhino horn, taxidermy full head mount lion skin and an 1881 Martini-Henri Mk. III Enfield ex Boer War rifle.

For the Chinese collector’s we are pleased to be offering a rare Chinese Kuan Yin Rhyolite Cave or Temple Carving believed to be from the late Ming period, Shandong Province. This beautiful stone bodhisattva was purchased by the vendor from the Shanghai antiquities market in 1960. The oriental section also features some wonderful silk prints, bronzes, furniture and porcelain. The auction features a selection of good English Sterling silver tableware and flatware, chandeliers, Persian rugs, artworks, including Eric Gill etchings and some well priced Victorian oak and mahogany furniture.
