  • Notes:
    Cane who trained as an architect in England under the Gothic Revivalist, Sir George Gilbert Scott immigrated to New Zealand in 1874 and was appointed Canterbury Provincial Architect, he is renowned for designing the neo-Gothic Lyttelton Timeball Station. He developed his skill as a watercolourist alongside his architectural training and is known for his studies of medieval European architecture, a subject he revisited in his later career.
