    A Fijian Wooden Club
    in the form of a small gunstock club with deep and fine incised design to butt and upper half of club. Old, dark patina. Nineteenth century.. Fiji.

    PROVENANCE: The Fijian Club was gifted to me upon our engagement in 1981 which we celebrated in Fiji, by my father in law - Timoci Vosailagi, current Chief of the Vunavutu Village, Sigatoka, Viti Levu Fiji. Dark old patina. Nineteenth Century. In 1971 Carol Anthony (my wifes mother) married Timoci Vosailagi. The Vosailagi Chieftan family has been residing in this village near to the mouth of the Sigatoka River, Sigatoka for many generations.. The Fijian Club was handed down through the generations of Chiefs of the Vunavutu Village and until recently was owned by Timoci Vosailagi. . John Verhoeven, Sydney
