    [Charles Dickens] A Complete Thirty-Four Volume Gadshill Edition Set of The Works of Charles Dickens [1897-99]
    pub. Chapman & Hall, London, bound by Bickers & Son, Leicester Square, with black & white illustrations [some behind protective papers], leather & cloth bound, stamped with gilt writing & decoration to each spine, marbled endpapers. Enscribed 'Drawing Room Case 61' to each, and in the first volume 'To Pauline from Jack,' Xmas 1899'.
  • Provenance:
    This set was given to Pauline Blanche (Tate) McGaw by her husband Jack Thorburn McGaw for Christmas 1899, and was kept in the drawing room of the McGaw family Manor in St Leonard's Forest, Sussex
  • Notes:
    Condition: fading to the brown leather, some yellowing & very slight foxing to papers, very readable and excellent condition considering age
