WWI TURKISH PROPAGANDA LEAFLET - GALLIPOLI CAMPAIGN
“AUSTRALIAN and NEW ZEALAND SOLDIERS! YOU HAVE BEEN TRICKED YOU CANNOT WIN You can only die here far from home, or suffer from hunger and thirst. The English, insatiable in their desire to dominate will waste your lives in their vain attempt at glory” The first aerial propaganda tactic of the Dardanelles campaign was used by the Turks. 15.5 x 20 cm
  • Notes:
Turkish aeroplanes sprinkled pamphlets written in Urdu and Arabic and later in English. Allied Operations were conducted by the RNAS as all aircraft seaplanes operated from ships. This is a very rare document due to the weather and operating conditions on the Gallipoli Peninsula which existed for much of the Gallipoli campaign in 1915, and due to the extreme shortage of toilet paper at the same time
