  • Notes:
Sopwith Camels were built between July 1917 and the armistice. Camel Pilots scored 1300 victories. The Camel was extraordinarily manouverable which was a combination of the rotary engine and its short fuselage. Armament was made of twin synchronized Vickers machine guns mounted on top of the fuselage in front of the cockpit, their breeches enclosed in a flared metal cowling ‘the hump’ that gave the camel its name.
