    2007 DODGE VIPER FIA-GT3
Chassis no: VCC87; Engine no: Various as stated in CAMS Log Book
  • Notes:
The Federation Internationale de L'Automobile (FIA) launched the GT3 category in 2005 designed to be suitable to sit under the GT2 specification. With the amateur and younger driver improving their way into higher levels of GT racing in mind, the GT3 category was designed to be much simpler and easier to drive than the GT1 and GT2 classes. The class has been so successful and well-accepted it is now the most prevalent regional racing series on the globe. Many of the elite sports car manufacturers have had cars homologated based on their road cars being in mass production. The GT3 cars, however, have no limit on engine sizes and configurations, chassis construction or layout. Some are no longer in use, but are still technically legal for use in GT3 races as long as the homologation is current. The Viper was designed by Asamu Shikado in 1999. Although no 2007 model Vipers were produced Chrysler instead extended production of the 2006 model while preparing the updated 2008 model. The Viper SRT-10, replaced both the GTS and the RT/1, and adopted a restyled and more angular bodywork. The engine's displacement was increased to 8.3 L (506.5 cu in), which, with other upgrades, increased output to 500 bhp (370 kW) and 525 lbáft (712 Nám). This Dodge Viper GT3 homologated 8.3-litre V10 race car competed in the 2007 British GT Championship, as part of Team RPM. Team RPM went on to win the Championship in 2007 (won by driver Alex Mortimer, the son of the team principal, Robert P. Mortimer). This particular car was imported from England in 2010 in black livery and is now re-painted in the factory colours of the GTS Blue paint scheme used on the initial run of First Edition cars like the original Viper coupe. This car competed in a few of the 2011 Australian GT Championship series races and comes with its CAMS logbook and a very comprehensive list of spare parts including a spare engine (a detailed inventory available on request). It is estimated the spares package on its own, which accompanies the car, represents a value in excess of $40,000. The car has done little work since an extensive strip down and rebuild and with a full complement of spares is ready for its next assault on the racing circuit. Apart from being the ultimate reliable track day machine, this GT3 car is eligible for second tier Australian GT Championships; State Series rounds and other amateur series. This vehicle will be sold unregistered
