  • Notes:
"Exotic cars are not appliances; laying bare their frame tubes and warranties with equal dispassion only confuses the issue. Do they quicken the pulse? - that's the point. Fit yourself into the Dino, fire up the sidewinder V-8 and then tell us how much you care about oil-change intervals." So said Car and Driver magazine in June 1975 of the Ferrari Dino 308 GT4. Although sometimes regarded as a lesser machine than some of its siblings, being 'just' a V8 rather than the V12 that Ferrari had more traditionally been known for, the 308 GT4 was undoubtedly one of the cars that help popularised the Ferrari myth. The 308 GT4 made Ferrari more accessible to more drivers and at the same time delivered the acceleration, handling and style with which the marque is synonymous. A rear-wheel-drive, two plus two passenger coupé fitted with a transverse mid-engine 2927cc water cooled V8 with aluminium block and heads, the 308 GT4 was capable of a top speed approaching 140 mph. To quote Car and Driver Magazine once again, "If intense machinery and barely tamed grand-touring racers for the street are your pleasure, the Dino is the tip." Launched at the Paris Motor Show in 1973 the Dino name was retained from its predecessor until being renamed and 'rebadged' as a Ferrari at the end of 1976. Surprisingly after an exclusive 20-year collaboration with design house Pininfarina, it was Bertone which designed the 308 GT4. The attractive wedge shape design clothed a tubular chassis with disc brakes and independent suspension, coil springs and hydraulic shock absorbers. The 308 GT4 remained in production until late 1980 when it was replaced by the Ferrari Mondial. This highly original Dino 308 GT4 is an excellent example of one of the only 547 factory right hand drive vehicles delivered out of a total production of 2826 units. Correctly badged as a Dino rather than as a Ferrari, it is finished in its original and correct colour of Ferrari Red and still maintains it original black interior. It features a rare factory sun roof and is accompanied by its original leather bound service books. The car was repainted ten years ago and is now fitted with Simmons Racing Wheels but in all other respects maintains its originality. This rare vehicle has been meticulously maintained by the current owner. This vehicle will be sold unregistered
